Free Aceh Movement (GAM) Party not to use Freedom Symbols

GAM Party, a local political party which declared in Aceh in July 7^th, 2007 did not use struggle symbols. It is confessed that GAM Party’s flag symbol is similar to GAM’s flag, which is there is a crescent with stars, but it does not present the spirit of freedom and struggle. ”We can understand the statement of the former head of Aceh Monitoring Mission (AMM) Peter Feith whom asked GAM Party must be renamed. We do not want to engage in polemics against ordinary things in diplomacy,” said the speaker of Aceh Transitional Committee (KPA) Ibrahim KBS to acehmagazine.com on Thursday (20/12).

HARIAN ACEH Cutting-hand regulation draft proposed to Aceh Parliament (p.1/Headline) Vice Head of NAD Islam Syariah Service, Ziauddin Ahmad, said the NAD Provincial Government has proposed the qanun draft to Aceh Parliament to discuss the cutting-hand punishment for the thieves. The Government will gather Aceh religious leaders in districts/cities to discuss about this regulation. WASPADA BRA to disburse reintegration assistance for GAM surrendered before MoU(p.20/Kutacane, Tapaktuan, Meulaboh) BRA is asked to disburse reintegration assistance for former GAM members surrendered before the MoU, especially in three districts, Aceh Tenggara, Aceh Singkil, and Simeuleu. Many victims are still living in emergency shelters and are waiting for housing assistances from BRR and the Government.
